Encinitas Is Number 5 Among Privileged White Racists!

Using Zillow data, the folks at Fox 5 San Diego have identified the “cities with the most expensive homes in the San Diego metro area.”

Encinitas ranks Number 5, Oceanside is way down at Number 20, and Carlsbad is at Number 6. Only homes in Solana Beach (4), Coronado (3), Del Mar (2) and Rancho Santa Fe (1) have a typical value higher than those in Encinitas. The typical home value in Encinitas is given as $1,712,308.

Observers suspect that this news does not bode well for Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear’s state Senate campaign. She wants to be seen as a progressive woman of the people, not a member of the privileged white racist class, they say.

Hence it’s rumored that Blakespear will dispatch city Equity Committee member Mali Woods-Drake to condemn the privileged white racists in Solana Beach, Coronado, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe, and to say that Encinitans look inclusive, charitable and kind by comparison.

It’s impossible to predict what the reaction will be in Encinitas, let alone the other four cities.

Petition Circulates to Tell Encinitas Deputy Mayor to STFU

“Honestly,” said Olivenhainian Horace Chestnut, “I’ve never heard anybody talk so much and say so little.”

Chestnut directed his comment to Encinitas Deputy Mayor Joe Mosca. Chestnut felt so strongly about the issue that he started a petition demanding that Mosca STFU.

Although the petition started as a joke among Olivenhain neighbors, it quickly escaped and spread to Cardiff, Old Encinitas, New Encinitas and Leucadia.

By the number of signers, the STFU petition now rivals the Our Neighborhood Voices petition. Chestnut wryly speculates that his petition has gained so many supporters because its name is easy to remember. He modestly omits his petition’s worthy goal.

“Encinitas residents who have followed Mosca’s City Council career know what a windbag he is,” said Chestnut. “They dread his, ‘Let me start by thanking blah blah blah . . .’ because they know what follows is volumes of hot air with little or no substance.

“The man has no self-awareness,” said Chestnut. “He likes to hear himself pontificate, and he must think everybody else does too. The popularity of the STFU petition proves that’s not true. I’m not surprised the petition has spread so quickly. It struck a vein of truth.”

State Senate Candidate Blakespear Eyes Orange County Keyhole

Few voters are paying attention to the upcoming California state Senate District 38 primary election. That’s understandable because today is February 14 (Happy Valentine’s Day!), and the election is June 7. The filing deadline is March 11, so new candidates can still jump in.

Because the new district numbers and boundaries didn’t go public until late December 2021, sites like Ballotpedia and Wikipedia haven’t caught up on District 38 facts. And since county registrars of voters usually publish election data after elections, there’s not a lot to be found for 2022 on the Orange County or San Diego County registrar of voters sites.

However, our crack team of data crunchers managed to find these compelling facts:

District 38 total population — 975,288

Citizen Voting Age Population — White: 68.29%, Latino: 18.44%, Asian: 8.84%, Black: 2.86%

Note that the percentages are of voting age population, not total population or registered voters. Also note that our crack team of data crunchers searched so many websites that they lost track of where they found the statistics above. The validity of the statistics is not affected.

According to the Orange County Register, the District 38 state Senate candidates to date are

• Catherine Blakespear, D – Encinitas, mayor
• Eleanor Juanita Evans, R – Oceanside, Oceanside Unified School District board member
• Matthew Gunderson, R – Mission Viejo, former car dealership owner
• Joe Kerr, D – Coto de Caza, former fire captain

All but Evans have Senate campaign websites.

Blakespear probably figures that with her sterling record of improving people’s lives as mayor of Encinitas and chairwoman of SANDAG, she has San Diego County in the bag. That county’s portion of District 38 starts at the Orange County line and hugs the coast all the way down to Mission Beach. Its voter registrations favor Democrats by 4.9% and, as noted above, its citizen voting age population is 68.29% white. Blakespear’s mouthpiece, Mali Woods-Drake, has her work cut out for her.

But what about that weird little keyhole in Orange County?

It includes these cities: Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita and San Juan Capistrano, these census designated places: Ladera Ranch and Las Flores, and these locations that are neither cities nor cdps: Rancho Trabuco and Robinson Ranch.

Readers who want to calculate the population of those locations and others that fall within District 38 might find this website helpful:

Blakespear must be worried about Republican candidate Matt Gunderson because she’s already complaining that he raised nearly as much money as she did but in half the time. She’s out begging for donations. Interested parties, see:

She has a ton of endorsements, including Bill Walton. What could go wrong?

Springtime for Blakespear and Primary!

Politics was having trouble, what a sad, sad story
Needed a new leader to restore its former glory
Where, oh where, was she? Where could that gal be?
We looked around and then we found
The gal for you and me
And now it’s . . .

Springtime for Blakespear and primary
3–8 is happy and gay
We’re scamming at a faster pace
Look out, here comes the autumn race

Springtime for Blakespear and primary
Winter for Matthew and Joe
Springtime for Blakespear and primary
Come on, Demos, get on with the show

I was born in Oceanside, and that is why they call me Clyde
Don’t be stupid, be a smarty, come and join the Demo party

Springtime for Blakespear and primary
Twostep’s the new step today
Cash falling from the skies again
3–8 is on the rise again

Springtime for Blakespear and primary
Cash ships are sailing once more

Springtime for Blakespear and primary
Means that soon we’ll be going
We’ve got to be going
You know we’ll be going to score!
